The Mario new super series of games are an extremely popular and highly appreciated series
of video games introduced by Nintendo calling attention to its mascot Mario and in
a few games, Luigi his brother . The games have an almost set pattern of jumping over obstacles in
defeating the enemies. They feature simple plots, the most common theme being that of Bowser, the
antagonist who kidnaps Princess Peach, whom Mario rescues.
The platform games of the Mario series involves jumping on enemies and avoiding their attacks.
In the fresh 3D games actions at striking distance were incorporated. The emphasis is laid on reaching
the ultimate goal regardless of all hindrances, reaching specific points or unraveling of puzzles. In 2D
games the stratum are unswerving which are cut into colourful worlds with defined number of under cover
elements and twists. 3D games of the series have their distinctive free roaming layout with an over world
which connects different levels which become accessible as the game progresses.
The Mario series has outclassed all other types of video games of similar genre with sales
topping two million units by December 2009. It needed the commercial failure of the Nintendo game Radar
Scope for the company’s president to turn to Shigeru Miyamoto to create an arcade game to reverse the
debacle and thus the new idea of a game bore fruit which has characters that have to make their way past
obstacles in their course. The game was called Donkey Kong with the jump man
being called by that name and it surprisingly became very successful. For the overseas release of the
game the jump man was called Mario, a name which has become synonymous with similar games and is the
benchmark for other games of such type.
The new super
Mario series of ds Nintendo games have come to stay and will be a trail blazer for many more to
come.
